Everybody has a story and I wanted to capture as many from my town as possible. That was the start of the Our Voice project which became the intergernarational film project funded by the Lottery Heritage Fund in 2014. As my first major project it was exciting to bring together the people I had met through my volunteer work at the Newton Family and Community Centre, Wargrave Big Local and my work as a documentary film maker. Working alongside local historians Geoff Simm and Margaret Normanton we held a local history day, filmed local residents who shared some incredible memories with us and involved over 20 young people in the making of the film.
The most enjoyable aspect of the project was filming our participants who gave us incredible stories about growing up in the town.
