Janette Hynes MBE has set up a walking football club and not settling for that she's now setting up an entire league

Established by Janette Hynes MBE ex-professional footballer (UEFA B Coach) and Consultant Occupational Therapist. Janette combines her football coaching skills with a health and wellbeing approach, with one-to-one personal lifestyle coaching plans for each of the members.
Our club was established in 2024, with the aim of creating a community of Walking Footballers in and around Stokesley and surrounding rural villages across North Yorkshire. Our philosophy embraces the social benefits and health and wellbeing. We welcome people of mixed abilities, 18-70+ years male and females, some may never have kicked a ball but want to improve their fitness and have fun with other like-minded people. Some, now in their formative years, who enjoyed playing in their early days and feel they missed being part of a team and want to keep active.
This activity played on a non-contact basis in line with the interpretation of the Walking Football Association Rules, with whom we are aligned. At first, it takes a little getting used to, but once those natural instincts to charge around or run into open spaces are curbed, it can be really competitive, great fun and most importantly, immensely beneficial for your health and mental well-being.
For those of you that have played the beautiful game, still want to be out there competing at a pace that is much more suited to where we are at in life, then walking football ticks all the boxes. For those of you who just want to do something that gets you out the house doing something and keep active, in an environment that is supportive and beneficial to your health, then walking football ticks your boxes too.
