Men's Songwriting Group

Our weekly song-writing groups in St Helens and Newton-Le-Willows are a safe, supportive space for men who are feeling isolated or struggling with their mental health. We know how powerful creativity can be — and through music, we help men express themselves, build friendships, and rediscover hope.

  • Designed to support men at risk of suicide or experiencing emotional distress

  • No musical experience needed — it's fine to come, sit with us and watch

  • Weekly sessions that foster connection, confidence, and community

Whether you're writing your first song or just want to be part of something meaningful, this group offers a place to be heard, understood, and uplifted.

Groups run every week at the following venues:

Crownway Community Centre, Crown Street, Newton-Le-Willows, WA12 9DA

5 til 6:30

Chain Lane Community Centre, Hinckley Road, St Helens, WA11 9HT

7 til 8:30

Our groups are for the benefit of men, not at the exclusion of women, so if you have a partner, carer or friend who you want to bring along that's encouraged.

"The Songwriting group has become such an important part of my life. I was diagnosed with PTSD after life saving open heart surgery and no medication or therapy worked even half as well as being part of this fantastic group"

“The group provides connection with others with a constructive aim which is a massive improvement in my life. Without it I would be unwell in ways that the NHS mental health services can’t stretch to remedy.”
